For scientists

Scientists can get involved with the Einstein Telescope in several ways. You can become a member of the Einstein Telescope Collaboration by joining an existing Research Unit or establishing a new one, or you can collaborate with the project without formal membership. This page explains the different pathways to get involved and provides links to publicly available resources for researchers and collaborators.

Joining a Research Unit

To join an existing Research Unit (RU) is as simple as talking to the Research Unit leader, find out about their focus, and deciding what you can contribute. It is up to the RU leader to admit new members into the RU. The RU leader will tell you how to get in touch with the relevant Working groups or divisions of the Collaboration and which formal steps to take to declare your activities in the ET Member Database.

Forming a new Research Unit

To initiate the formal application process to join the ET collaboration, please contact Michele Maggiore, Angélique Lartaux or Patrice Verdier and outline the focus of your proposed research group’s contribution towards the Einstein Telescope. They will send you relevant information and files, and put you in contact with the appropriate committees and working groups, in preparation for the process.

Joining the ET Scientific Collaboration has clear advantages, as the groups work in a very stimulating framework towards realising the Einstein Telescope, and do the best science possible in the relevant fields.

ET is a complex and ambitious international project, and sharing relevant responsibilities and accepting formal procedures is the best way to achieve these goals. Before applying, please have a look at the (current) bylaws of the ET collaboration.
