Training and Schools

The Einstein Telescope is a highly ambitious research infrastructure designed to open a new era of gravitational-wave astronomy and fundamental physics. Making ET a success will require a new generation of highly qualified researchers, engineers, and specialists who continuously develop skills across science, technology, and collaboration.
Below we are publishing a snapshot of options that are openly accessible to the wider early-career ET community right now — from a near-term in-person workshop to flexible self-study resources and a summer school focused on multimessenger astrophysics.

MaNiTou Summer School on Gravitational Waves 2027

Les Houches School of Physics, France

The 2027 MaNiTou Summer School on Gravitational Waves will offer a four-week programme of lectures and hands-on sessions covering gravitational-wave theory, detection, data analysis, waveform modelling, astrophysics, cosmology, and future observatories, including Einstein Telescope and LISA.

The school is primarily aimed at PhD students, early-career postdoctoral researchers, and exceptional Master’s students. Researchers and engineers interested in transitioning to gravitational-wave research may also be considered.

Dates: 5–30 July 2027

Participation fee: €2,100, including accommodation and meals. The organisers are seeking additional funding to reduce costs and offer scholarships.

Applications: Registration details will be announced soon.

Poincaré early-career researchers fellowship
Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur, Nice, France

The Henri Poincaré Early-Career Researcher Fellowship, funded by the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur (OCA) and the Université Côte d’Azur IdEx JEDI, offers a two-year postdoctoral contract to early-career researchers who obtained their PhD and pursued their postdoctoral research outside OCA. The fellowship is intended to enable successful candidates to develop an independent research program in the broad field of Earth and Universe sciences. This covers gravitational-wave research. There are active research programs at OCA for Virgo, Einstein Telescope and LISA.
Application deadline: 16 November 2026
